The author at Hebrew University in the 70's

Jonathan Sapir is a South African-American. He was born in Durban and grew up in Johannesburg. He has a bachelor's degree in International Relations and Jewish History from Hebrew University of Jerusalem. He spent five years in Jerusalem and has returned often to visit his family there. He also spent much of the nineties partnering with the Israeli software company Magic Software.

When Jonathan returned to South Africa, he worked for IBM as a consultant for 8 years before immigrating to Chicago, where he met his wife Joyce and is still in Chicago 39 years later. Jonathan has three grown children who live nearby with their spouses, a fiery granddaughter Iris Mae, and two granddogs, Gus and Tchotchke.

Over the years, he built several software companies, culminating in his software product, Work-Relay (an application used by Fortune 100 companies to run their time-constrained, mission-critical business operations), being acquired in 2022. He has also written many books on technology, including “Thriving at the Edge of Chaos: Managing Projects as Complex Adaptive Systems”.

Now retired, he returned to his passion for Jewish history. What started as a hobby evolved into an in-depth analysis of how the Jews have shaped America.
